AbstractByproducts such as orange peel have potential uses because of their bioactive compounds, which are important for their potential to reduce the risk factors of diseases caused by aging. The lack of effective techniques and the high levels of pollution produced by the conventional extraction of bioactive compounds using organic solvents have highlighted the need to enhance the ‘green chemistry’ trend. AbstractPomace seed extract loaded vesicles were prepared as promising technological and green solution to exploit agri-food wastes and by-products, and develop high value-added products for human health. An antioxidant extract rich in bioactive compounds (epicatechins, catechin, gallic acid, quercetin and procynidins) was obtained from the seeds isolated from the pomace of Cannonau red grape cultivar. Amphetamine-type stimulants analysis in oral fluid based on molecularly imprinting extraction

Abstract A methamphetamine-based molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) has been prepared by bulk polymerization to recognize new psychoactive substances (NPS) of the amphetamine, cathinones and 2C families in oral fluid samples, being the first precedent of a synthetized MIP for the extraction and preconcentration 32 NPS including amphetamine type substances and synthetic cathinones from oral fluids. Cubic smoothing splines background correction in on-line liquid chromatography–Fourier transform infrared spectrometry

A background correction method for the on-line coupling of gradient liquid chromatography and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (LC-FTIR) is proposed. The developed approach applies univariate background correction to each variable (i.e. each wave number) individually. Aqueous extracts from blackcurrant press cake (BC), Norway spruce bark (NS), Scots pine bark (SP), and sea buckthorn leaves (SB) were obtained using maceration and pressurized hot water and tested for their bioactivities. Maceration provided the extraction of higher dry matter contents, including total phenolics (TPC), anthocyanins, and condensed tannins, which also impacted higher antioxidant activity. NS and SB extracts presented the highest mean values of TPC and antioxidant activity. Individually, NS extract presented high contents of proanthocyanidins, resveratrol, and some phenolic acids. "Sweet Chemistry": a Green Way for Obtaining Selenium Nanoparticles Active against Cancer Cells

We present an environment friendly synthesis of selenium nanoparticles and the study of their cytotoxic activity against uterine sarcoma cancer and fibroblasts cells.
